Starting a career in International Geneva is often described as exciting and full of purpose. But for many young professionals, the path into this world is anything but straightforward.

This Career Think & Drink explores what it really means to enter the international job market today: the expectations, the barriers, the opportunities, and the realities that often remain invisible. Behind polished job descriptions and competitive recruitment processes lie complex dynamics: shifting requirements, evolving skill sets, and a labour market where junior roles are scarce and entry paths increasingly fragmented. Students and recent graduates frequently face uncertainty about how to position themselves, how to build experience, or even where to begin. At the same time, organisations are navigating their own constraints: budget limits, high demand, and structural challenges that influence recruitment.

What does it take to get your foot in the door? Which skills truly matter? And what what are the best application tips?

To unpack these questions, we’ll be joined by three speakers offering complementary perspectives from across International Geneva:
