International surveys on economic competitiveness have ranked Switzerland at the top nine years in a row. However, these positive outcomes often stand in opposition with rankings on gender equality in the labour market, which tend to give Switzerland a low score. Indeed, in 2016, the Committee for the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) remarked several shortcomings with regards to the implementation of women’s rights to work in Switzerland.
