Samar ist eine jemenitische Wissenschaftlerin, deren Forschung sich auf Frauen, Gender, Entwicklung und postkoloniale Studien im Nahen Osten konzentriert. Sie ist Research Fellow des Indian Council for Cultural Relations und Doktorandin in Entwicklungsstudien an der School of Gandhian Thought and Development Studies. Derzeit absolviert sie ein Praktikum am Institute for Contemporary Chinese Studies und ist zudem auch am Centre for Migration Policy and Inclusive Governance sowie am Centre for West Asian Studies der Mahatma-Gandhi-Universität in Kottayam, Kerala, Indien, als Praktikantin tätig.
